*His real name is Jepha. *Lists Say Days Ago as one of his favourite songs to play. *Born January 4th, 1979 in Provo/Orem, Utah. He is the second oldest member of The Used. *Jeph's parents divorced when he was very young. *He is an only child born. *Used to work as a cook and baker before The Used got signed with Reprise Records. *His father is an inactive Mormon. *His father was the person that got him interested in music. *Jeph is only about 5'7". *Used to have dreadlocks. *Sometimes rides a tourbus with drummer Branden Steineckert, but occasionally rides the bus with guitarist Quinn Allman and singer Bert McCracken. *Jeph is a vegetarian and involved with PETA. *Believes in UFOs. *Used to be a boy scout. *In public school he did not have many friends because he used to talk to himself a lot. *While touring, Jeph oftentimes will update the band's fan database, The Used Nation. *Jeph became a father at the age of 19. However, he is not allowed see his daughter very often due to issues with her mother. He does however say she is "in the back of my head everyday." *Jeph has more than 10 piercings and has spent well over $2000 on tattoos. Interested in Japan and the Japanese culture. *He is apparently the nicest member of The Used. *Drinks alcohol in moderation. Does not smoke or do drugs. *He practices his bass guitar on a regular basis. *He enjoys drawing, going on the computer, and playing video games. *Jeph believes that bassists should have no boundaries and there are no rules to playing bass.

Jepha Howard 26 year old Jepha Howard, the bassist of The Used, was born on January 4th of 1979. He grew up in Utah. His parents are divorced and he has no siblings. His dad was an inactive Mormon, so he didn’t know much about it. He was also a boy scout when he was younger. He wishes he had gotten into music earlier in his life. During elementary school, Jepha used to talk to himself a lot which made him have few friends until his high school days. He worked as a cook and a baker before he got signed. Then he and Branden had started a band. He tried being a singer because there was already a bass player. He claims that his voice closes up under any kind of pressure, so he wouldn’t be able to scream or sing that well. That band broke up and they later called Bert and started the Used. After the Used were signed, Jepha still remains down-to-earth and nice as ever. He loves listening to bands like Dillenger Escape Plan, The Bled and Glassjaw. Hess now a vegetarian and likes to watch horror movies, get tattooed, and play bass. He writes a blog on theusednation.com now also. He has an obsession with Japanese stuff, and he has a partly Japanese themed house. His ceilings are black, and his walls are red. He is a conspiracy freak too, he doesn’t believe in war. Hess still very spacey in his mind too. Now he shares a tour bus with Bert McCracken and Quinn Allman on the “party“ bus. Although Jepha drinks occasionally, he chooses not to party hard. He loves piercings and tattoos, he recently has a new tattoo on his hand. In ‘In Love and Death’ he writes, "and to all the people that try to use me as a carpet, FUCK YOU!!!!"
