איך נטלי הכירה את דניאל(ושאר ירקות)
How did you meet your Aussie rocker fiance, Daniel Johns? I got his CD and inside were dates of gigs. One was a few days away in London, and I decided to go. I don't know why, but I'm glad I did. Were you introduced? Not really. I was waiting in the bar, backstage, with my friend and then I met the drummer and the base player and then Daniel come out. Were you already famous at that point? The band, Silverchair, would've known me from my Neighbours TV days because they're Australian. My first album had also been out. Was it love at first sight? I think it was, but you don't know it as that at the time. I know that I tried to deny it at first. He was a complete stranger and I'm realistic. It was like: "I'm going crazy." But I felt strangely drawn to him. Click here or click in 'read more' below to view the full interview Was it because you were both into music? That had nothing to do with it, nothing. I think it's past lives, I don't know. It's just a feeling that I got - that I knew him. I knew everything about him, what he needed, how he worked, how he ticked. I knew everything before I even spoke to him. We spoke on the phone, and we didn't even kiss or have a date or anything. The relationship started on the telephone, talking, which is so not me. I normally would dive into the deep end with someone and it wouldn't work and it wouldn't last. The foundation was already set with him. How did your romance progress from there? Although we hit it off, we split up for a year. We lived in different countries and it was too hard. So we've had a lot of hard times as well. But I think that when you break up with someone and you can't get over them for a whole year, it says a lot in this business. Have you set a date and venue for the wedding? No. Maybe the start of next year, but we're too busy this year. I don't know where. Most of my family's in Australia, but we haven't decided. Are your family originally from Italy? My father is Italian. I've been to Italy, but I haven't been to Liveri, where my father is from. Not yet, but I will go. I have family there, distant cousins and my dad's uncles and aunts and things. So, yes, we have genuine Italian roots. Did you embrace your Italian culture while growing up in Australia? Not at that age, no. I got teased. People would say nasty things like: "Go back to your own country." I grew up in a small beach town, not in a city where people are a little more open that way. Kids would repeat what their parents said and it was very hurtful. There are a lot of redneck places in Australia and nastiness. How did it affect you? It made me a better person, really, because I know what it feels like. So I've never been that kind of person to others. It never damaged me. No one ever beat me up. I see it as a good thing now. I took it all in my stride and, obviously, having big lips and big eyes is cool now. When you're a kid, people are teasing you about not necessarily a bad thing, but just something that sticks out. But you don't know that when you're a kid. You just wish it would go away. Are you close to your brothers and sisters? I have three sisters, one older, two younger. Four strong independent women and we're very close. Well, on-the-telephone close. They're all in Australia. One of my younger sisters, Michelle, lived in London for a year and we really got close. We were never close growing up. She had to grow up with a famous older sister and all that means and we were able to really bond this time, which was just amazing. Have any of them gone into acting? Michelle did a part on Home And Away, but was very honest about why. She was doing it for the money. She was never like: "I'm passionate about this." How's your third album coming along? I started recording in July, but I'm still writing. So it's getting there. It's going to be less introspective than the first two, so the lyrics will feel lighter, but the music is actually edgier, more commercial, big choruses, confident. Does your music reflect the way you feel now? For me it does, maybe not for other people. I'm so happy right now, so I can't sing really miserable songs - unless it's about missing Daniel. המקור: The People
