The inaugural European Athletics Championships took place in 1934. The European Championships will be hosted in the Bavarian capital for the second time, after Munich hosted the continental competition back in 2002. From 15–21 August, 1,500 athletes will compete for a total of 50 sets of medals, making it the largest group of competitors at Munich 2022. Taking place in the famous Olympiastadion, the athletics competitions of European Athletics (EA) are one of the many highlights of Munich 2022.
