Johnnie Walker Blue Label King George V Edition has been carefully handcrafted to recreate the Johnnie Walker blending style from the King George V era. Oak casks dating back to the last century have been used to age these precious whiskies, sourced from distilleries operating during the reign of King George V. The result is a highly distinctive whisky, smooth with age without the tannin associated with younger oak casks. Aroma:- Rich, profound smoky signature: the Port Ellen gives this strong, almost woodsmoke nose to the blend – astringent and deep. Followed by sweet, fresh fruit (apples, pears, bananas): the Speyside Whisky’s characterised by the Cardhu single malt whisky style. Malt characteristics; overlayed by rich dried fruit/ spicy complexity (raisins, figs, cinnamon); revealing gentle earthy, floral and beeswax aromas. These are the flavours from using European Oak in the blend. Royal Lochnagar has a dramatic role in building these taste profiles. Taste:- powerful, complex, rich and smooth, with mouthwarming and lingering peaty finish. The blend travels from West to East, from European Oak to the Grain whiskies underpinning the blend. However, unique and rare Islay Whisky, Port Ellen, of finite stock and infinite value provides the key point of distinction in the blend, these old Islay Whiskies from Port Ellen transform the brand into a genuine re-creation of a blended Whisky from another time when this smokiness would have been one of the critical components of a great blend. For a time this experience can be tasted again but the stocks are rare and very limited and therefore are of great value
