J. Lo learned her lesson: She says singer Marc Anthony is "just a friend." They've stepped out in public twice, but both times they arrived at events separately. USA TODAY's Karen Thomas spoke with relationship expert Jill Spiegel, author of The Flirtologist's Guide to Dating, about strategies stars use to keep their lives as private as possible. 1. Doing the red carpet solo Top couple: Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan Their formula: They're often at events supporting each other and even getting snuggly when the cameras aren't around. But they never, ever arrive together. "Even for events on the Alias set, they won't stand next to each other," Spiegel says. Other followers: Renee Zellweger and Jack White; J. Lo and Marc Anthony 2. "I don't talk about my personal life." Top couple: Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z Their formula: "They won't even acknowledge their relationship, even though they know it's public knowledge," Spiegel says. "They don't stop being together, but they never bring it to a verbal discussion." Other followers: Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake, Leonardo DiCaprio and Gisele Bundchen 3. A hint and a giggle Top couple: Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri Their formula: "They're walking a fine line," Spiegel says.
