their first album
is no less than incredible... except for that shitty "all tomorrow's parties" song, i hate it. hypnotic atmosphere, great songs, while all the world is busy talking about love and being a filthy hippies, these guys partied with heroin, death and andy warhole. this specific song is one of the best songs ever made, the awful recording quality created a sound which untill today many bands are trying real hard to duplicate. i bought a while ago their first album after john cale left, called simply "the velvet underground". it could be a lou reed solo, he wrote it all, and the songs are pretty minimalistic, quite and alike. nice record, not a break-through like the first one, and reed's bullshiting about jesus too much, but there are some good songs like "candy says" and "what goes on in your life" and the last two track are great awsell... sorry it's in english, no hebrew here..
