ברוך הבא + ברכה
Hello. My name is Udi Susser, I’m 35 years old and I have been a fairly avid folder for thirty-odd years (give or take).Like many folders of my generation I started out with the compilation books by Robert Harbin in the mid-seventies (the only ones readily available in this country back then). And then, one day, I came upon the book “Origami for the Enthusiast” by Montroll… I still remember it now, I was nine, and my friend and I just gaped all google eyed at the models – these were definitely not the standard crane, frog or samurai hat, indeed no! These models looked just like the creatures they depicted, appendages and all. And what’s more – they looked so “alive”. So I forced my dad to buy me the book and commenced folding the models one by one. Many of the models are still considered by me to be classics to this very day – the grasshopper, the Pegasus, the various beetles, and more. In fact, I still can fold some of them by heart (and it’s been 26 years…). The book, though worn out by now, is still in one piece, as aptly stated on the back “a dover edition designed for years of use”. Attached is the Pegasus (still one of my all time favourite models, nostalgia aside). I folded this one 10 years ago out of gold coloured paper – and it is still the centre piece (litearally) of my collection. Since then I have bought many more books by Montroll (my favourites being the mythological and prehistoric ones), and one can always rely on these things: Foldability, an animated quality and lifelike results. I am very much looking forward to meeting you. Udi.
