Hey! I know what you are going through....we just relocated to NJ. I had nights with no sleep just because of worrying to my dog (I have an English Staff). Well, I have some great news from you: They are just fine!!! I was crying for 12 hours of the flight, everybody knew I have a dog on the cargo cabin and believe me he was just fine! I was so worry and it was for nothing! Save your worries, believe me. I know how you feel and people told exactly what I'm telling you and I didn't believe them, but trust me it's all OK. Don't forget: 1) To remind the travel agent over and over again that there is a dog and tell her his weight 2) DO DOT GIVE HIM ANY PILL!!!!!! I made a serious and wide research on this topic, and all the best vets and experienced people are telling the same: let him flight like this with no any pills. The pills make their body temperature dropping down and so to their blood pressure, so don't take the risk. They are just fine with no pills. 3) Buy new and good kennel. put good and warm blankets inside, as much as you have, put some cloth of yours too, that he will have your smell. Make sure to buy him the kennel at least two weeks before the flight, and let him get use to it at home, with his toys, bones etc. 4) Don't give him food and water in the kennel during the flight - he won't use it anyway. Take some bottle of water and some snacks and give it to him when you arrive at the airport. 5) However, make sure to let him water and food about 3-4 hours before the flight and go to a walk with him in the airport that he will make what he needs 6) Remind the staff on the airplane that you have a dog, that they will remind the pilot to turn on the heat there (otherwise it's freezing there) 7) Get the health certification for him from the regional vet at your area. (Ask your vet the address and number) Be ready it won't be easy for the two of you, but trust me: it will be OK. My dog and I had 2 flights from Tel Aviv to NY and I was so scared each time, but it's going to be OK. When you get to your new place, let him have a walk, give him food and water and be with him for few days at your new home. Try to be relaxed. If he will notice you are nervous, he will be nervous too. Good Luck!
