מומלץ!!!
May May has always been considered weird by everyone she grew up with. When she was young, she had a lazy eye and her mother made her wear an eye patch. While growing up, May had no friends, except for a weird little doll in a glass case, and because of her lazy eye, she was self-conscious and very shy. May's life will soon change when she meets Adam. Adam is perfect in every way, that is until he breaks her heart. May then realizes that no one is perfect, only parts of them and now she must create someone who is perfect. May has had a lazy eye her entire life. When she was a little girl, her mother made her wear an eye patch all the time. Now that May is older, she is trying to get past the life she has lived when she runs into Adam Stubbs. May is very shy and just can't seem to figure out how to get in contact with him. One day she follows him into a restaurant and when he falls asleep she goes up to him. He wakes up and sees her placing her face on his hands and he asks her what she's doing. She backs away, unable to speak, and soon leaves. Soon, May and Adam start to run into each other more often and begin to date. He shows her his room, which is filled with Dario Argento memorabilia. The guy has great taste in movies! He tells May how she's weird and that he likes weird. On the next date, May and Adam start to kiss and she bites his lip. His lip starts bleeding non-stop and she wants to play in the blood. Adam finds this a bit too weird and starts to avoid her. May soon starts to try and get in contact with him, but he doesn't want anything to do with her. May is now living a very confused life. She has never cared for anyone and has never known what it's like to be cared for by another. Now that she's lost that, she'll do anything to get that back. After seeing the evil that people can do, she realizes that no one is perfect, but parts of them are. When May finally snaps, she decides to gather up the pieces to create the perfect person. May has been getting great reviews from the horror fans who have seen it, and I knew I had to see it. After viewing it, I noticed that it's really only the final half of this film that it becomes horror. The first half is bringing us into the life of May. We are shown a character we can all relate to, whether we are as shy as she is or not, she is a character we like and don't want to see harmed. When Adam starts to treat May the way he does, you can't help but sympathize with May. In the final half where May takes her revenge, the movie becomes a non-stop journey into just how twisted May's mind is. After May had ended, I honestly didn't know what to think. I just set there wondering what I had just witnessed. This movie had managed to get under my skin and leave me with an uneasy and a bit sick feeling. The final part of this film is very powerful, but it's the character development that makes those final scenes work. May is a haunting work of art that every horror fan should witness. It has been a while since a film managed to sink in the way May did. I was really surprised how this film couldn't manage to go to theaters. Maybe it's because the mainstream audience isn't quite ready for a film like this, but horror fans sure are. I have really enjoyed some of the horror films that have come out this year and May manages to make it in the top of that list. This is a highly recommended film! I give it a 10 out of 10.
