He was born on the 20th December 1899 and rode the Tour in 1926. He had an intruiging life, which included child labour, fleeing to England at the age of 14 because of WWI, later on fighting in WWI, working in a coal mine, brewing his own liquor, having his own liquor store, 3 marriages and of course: participating in the Tour. He was the last Belgain WWI veteran, too. They don't make them like that anymore! Farewell Emile.
