כל הכבוד לכל מי שהחליטה להירשם ולהשתתף בטרי' קיסריה, למרות השעה המאוחרת של זינוק הספרינט! A few hints about dealing with hot weather: * hydrate well for the few days before - 3 liters per day, 4 liters the day before, including some isotonic drink. * from now until the race, do one or two imunim each week in the heat of the day - to get your body accustomed to working in the heat * waterproof sunscreen * spread a lubricant, something like Body Glide (or Vaseline) on areas where clothes rub against skin - shoulders, armpits, crotch, under the strap for your chip * wear a light colored hat, one that "breathes." (some integration of dri-fit material) * sunglasses * know that everyone is dealing with the heat Why is the start so late? The race organizers have many decisions to make, all of which are based on safety, keeping the routes as open as possible, letting the people doing the longer segments have the cooler weather, making sure the kids have open space for their competition. Frequently the police set up their own demands for time. What to do while you wait for your segment to start? * Get yourself organized in the transition area. * Pick up your goodie bag. * Go to the bathroom. * Then.. cheer others on!! What to eat when? * Eat food that you've tried before and during imunim! Nothing new!
* Eat a light, carbohydrate breakfast at home. * About half an hour before your race start - a small "hatif," banana or gel. * During the morning, 500ml of isotonic drink (not too much, so you won't need to make a bathroom stop during the race.
After your race: * You can shower and change clothes near the beach. * NIKE gives out "kartivim." - yummy * Bring your own food, drink, your normal post imun/race food. * There is a large shady area with "puchim" to rest and relax while you wait for the Awards ceremony to start. * Talk to your friends and fellow competitors. Everyone has a fun race story to share! Enjoy! A hug, Susie
