לאלו שמתכננים טיסה ל- Grand Canyon, הנה ידיעה שהתפרסמה בכתב העט הוירטואלי AvWeb: THE SOUND OF SILENCE IN THE GRAND CANYON: Flying above the Grand Canyon is an experience not easily forgotten, and highly recommended by the AVweb crew, but the experience might soon become rarer. The Associated Press reports that The Grand Canyon Trust, an environmental group, is arguing against the FAA´s policies -- including the current cap on flights and route limitations -- limiting air tour operators to 90,000 flights per year. Attorneys for the group claim that the FAA´s restrictions simply don´t go far enough in providing peace and quiet for creatures and tourists below. At a federal court of appeals hearing last Thursday, William Thode, an attorney for the U.S. Air Tour Association, fired back, arguing that the FAA based the cap on computer models that were designed to predict noise over sensitive urban areas. The Grand Canyon Trust is asking the judge presiding over the case to force the FAA to rewrite its rules governing the canyon overflights. While the judge was reportedly sympathetic, nothing has been decided on so yet. Stay tuned ... אריאל אריאלי
