Egypt President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi approved on 4 July the inter-governmental agreement with Cyprus for the construction of a subsea gas pipeline between the latter’s 4.5tcf Aphrodite field and the 7.2mn t/y ELNG export terminal at Idku.
In September 2018 the initial IGA was signed between the two countries before Egypt’s parliament rubber-stamped the agreement in January of this year, two months before Cypriot lawmakers approved the deal (MEES, 26 April).
