One of the joys of American Idol is watching amateurish, questionably dressed wannabes blossom into, well, more polished, professional-looking wannabes. Remember how Fox's reality hit spit-shined Clay Aiken? Just think what an Idol-style extreme makeover could do for this season's crop of up-and-comers... If you read yesterday's Insider, you may've been surprised to learn that Constantine Maroulis stands at a lofty 6-foot-3. "I slouch," he tells TVGuide.com. It's no shocker to anyone, however, that both Connie and Bo Bice could use a shave and a haircut. "I shave sometimes," the 29-year-old Maroulis grins. "And I promise all the people out there that I do shower, and I do wash my hair. It might be hotel shampoo and conditioner, but...." Is Maroulis ready for a makeover if the show decides he needs one? "I wouldn't be open to much change," he scoffs. "I think that's bogus. It'd be nice of them to buy me some stuff and if they want to do that, that's cool, but I just want to keep it real and be me. 'Cause if anything's working for me, I think that's working for me." Las Vegas native Mikalah Gordon echoes his sentiments. "I'm really happy with myself inside and out," the confident 16-year-old declares. Other Idols don't much mind the idea of pop-star makeovers. Blue-eyed blond boy Anthony Fedorov, for example, may opt to shed those spectacles of his for a less bookish look. "I love these glasses. I don't feel them on," the 19-year-old says, slipping them off to show TVGuide.com his cute mug. "But it's not like I'm sticking to glasses. I don't really have a signature thing — I'm just myself. Without glasses, I can't see anything, but I'm thinking I might take 'em off. I used to wear contacts." Our vote? Go back to the contacts, Ant. As for 21-year-old country girl Carrie Underwood, she's all for some sprucing up. Not that she needs much help, what with those Reese Witherspoon-ish good looks. "Thank you!" she gushes. "I'm definitely [up for a makeover], but nothing that's too drastic and not me. Like if they want to dye my hair purple, I would have a problem with that. But I'm up for anything. I want a makeover. "As far as fashion goes, I'm really a T-shirt-and-jeans girl, so I kind of have a problem dressing up sometimes," Underwood continues. "I'm just not good at it. So I'm very excited that we're going to have fashion people telling us what looks good and what doesn't." Now that's the sartorial spirit. למי שרוצה http://www.tvguide.com/news/insider/050316b.asp
