SHORT SCION - Six-seat light transport Short S.16 Scion was first flown August 18, 1933. Production totalled five Short Scion I with two 85 hp Pobjoy Niagara I or II and 17 Short Scion II (including four built by Pobjoy) with 90 hp Niagara Ills. Eleven British-registered Short Scions (three Mk I, eight Mk II) impressed by RAF during 1940, to serve primarily with Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Units and Ferry Pilots Pool. Three others retained British civil registrations fpr wartime use, including one in Aden. Two Short Scion Us exported pre-war to Palestine Airways impressed for RAF use in August 1940 at Lydda, written off respectively in April 1941 and December 1942. Data for Short Scion II.
