Isaac Fried of Boston University offers to send a copy of his book, "The analytic and synthetic etymology of the Hebrew language" (ha-Etimologyah ha-analitit veha-sintetit shel ha-lashon ha-Ivrit" gratis to any NAPH who requests one. He describes it as follows: "[The book]is not a mere etymology book in the sense of tracing words within kin languages. The book sets forth the basic linguistic mechanism by which Hebrew expands few fundamental concepts of reality, or primitive single-consonantal roots, into the extended root system of the language. Existing roots can be analyzed by this method, and new ones synthesized. I am sure the book will be appreciated by every teacher of Hebrew, and I am willing to send it to any Hebrew professor for the mere price of asking."
