11. The Girl who can cry at the drop of a hat The episode opens with Shandi bemoaning her walk and trying to practice it. Catie joins in and Xiomara tells the camara that Catie tends to want the center of attention. Heather tells the camara that she feels disconnected from the other girls. The next day the girls are summoned to a hair solon where they will receive makeovers. Catie has her hair cut in a longish pixie cut and is very unhappy, she cries for the first time on camara. Tyra tries to calm her. Jenascia also has her hair shortened, telling her that it will make her look taller. April and Camille go darker, as Heather, Shandi and Sara go lighter. Yoanna receives a modern mohawk, which looks very good on her. Jenascia reveals that Catie told her she could cry at the drop of a hat. The next trial is a contest, who can achieve a perfect smoky eye in a short amount of time. Yoanna ends up with the closest and she wins a meal cooked and served by the rest of the girls. She chooses Sara, Xiomara and April to join her. Heather is feeling betrayed because she thought that Yoanna was close to her. Shandi collapses on the floor and Yoanna feeds her some food from her purse, Shandi feels she has to eat and sleep more. Next fashion shoot will be an action shot. Photographed in a run down factory with large holes stretching from the ground floor to ceiling. The girls are shoot suspended by cables over one of the holes in the floor. Catie freaks out and doesn't think she will be able to complete the shoot. Xiomara and Jay Manuel try to calm her. Catie gets a couple of shots in. At the elimination round Xiomara's picture from the action shot was not good and she responded by saying that she didn't have much direction because Jay was comforting Catie. Catie then defends herself, then breaks down aferward. Heather is ultimately let go, due to her inability to look older and not enough facial emoting. She feels it is not fair, but will strive to go on to do better things. NOTE: The girls all get makeovers at Warren-Tricomi salon. The makeovers are as follows: Catie: Short haircut (Like Alyssa Milano of Charmed) April: Bangs Camille: Braids removed Mercedes: Extensions and puffy for animalistic look Sara: Blonde highlights and extensions Shandi: Dyed platinum blonde Xiomara: Extentions and waves Yoanna: Modern mohawk Jenascia: Hair cut to shoulder length Heather: Bit more blonde The challenge is for the girls to accomplish a smokey eye effect. The winner is Yoanna who picks Sara, Xiomara, and April to enjoy dinner w/ their Adam models served by the losing girls. This episode marks Catie's reputation as a crybaby. She cried when her hair was cut, during the Laundry photo shoot, and again after the judge's critiqued the girl's makeup. The judge's challenge is for the girls to apply a certain theme of make-up (Goth, Futuristic, 50s Glamour, 80s Punk, and 60s Mod). This week's guest judge is Jay Manuel, make-up artist. The episode title is named for Catie, whom Jenascia said in her confessional told her that she could 'cry at the drop of a hat'.
