Our Gendered Lens: A Photography Book From the Transgender, Transsexual, Genderqueer, Thirdgender, Non-gender, Gender variant, Gender Defiant. This photography book will focus on our images, scenes from our worlds, what we see through our own lenses, and what role gender identity plays in our lives. It is important that we take creative control of the images that represent who we are. This book will allow us to share our lives and our experiences through images of our own creation. Your photos may contain any subject matter as long as it pertains to the role of gender identity in your life. The most important goal of this project is to visualize as many gender identities as possible. No matter how you identify, even if you do not identify with gender at all, these ideas should be expressed in your photography. I am hoping to get photographs from around the world - from urban cities to the smallest of towns. I want to find those of us that live in more isolated regions, places that have smaller trans and gender variant communities, right along side those of us who live in bigger cities like New York City, San Francisco, London or Berlin. The book will include photographers from diverse racial and class backgrounds and across a wide age range. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER TO TAKE AN AMAZING PICTURE ? YOU ALSO DON?T NEED A FANCY CAMERA - JUST YOUR IMAGINATION! If you would like to participate in this project and don?t have the funds for a camera (disposable or otherwise) or film developing please email me or send me a letter so we can work something out. HOW TO SEND YOUR PHOTO ? PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - All photos sent MUST have a short description to go along with it AND a short bio of the photographer (you). VERY IMPORTANT: If you are a photographer sending in a photo of a friend/family member etc. who is trans or gender variant you must have the permission of this person and be in contact with this person. FOR DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS: You must have two versions of your photo ? the first a low resolution size .jpeg or .tif ? 50kb up to 150kb is acceptable. Send this photo size first by email. If your photo is chosen your original photo must be high resolution and at least 300 ppi (pixels per inch) ? it will not print well otherwise ? if you have questions about this please email me.
