Portuguese Citizenship detailed process | August 2018

Once your application reached the conservatory in Portugal it goes into several processes -:


Receipt of the application and it's annexed by the Conservatório


Accounting of the Conservatory which verifies that the emoluments, valued by 250€, has been paid by the applicant.


Allocation of a case number to the application (XXXX/2018)


Documentary digitation


Distribution


Analysis of the documents by the official clerk of the registry, In which he is authorized to request the applicant to provide additional documents/information.


Consultation with external entities: PJ, SEF, DGAJ or even International services (such as Interpol, FBI for the criminal record); At this stage, the “Accepted” or “Not Accepted” verdict will be given.

Dispatch to the ministry of Justice for application analysis


Dispatch MJ


Registration of the seat (Birth) in the Conservatory


Process finalized!


The applicant upon receiving the birth certificate is requested to issue a Citizen card (ID) followed by travel document (Passport) in an official representative of the authorities of the Republic of Portugal – Embassy / Consulate. Additional fees are required & will be paid by the applicant.

Processing times of the stages above are about 2 years
