Cobbled Roads A Feature Of Stage Three... The big features of the stage to Wasquehal are two sectors of cobbled roads which are also part of the route for the ‘Hell of the North’, Paris-Roubaix the famous one-day Classic contested each April. The ‘pave’ sectors are in Erre (a 2,800m sector) and in Gruson (a 1,100m sector). The defending Tour champion, Lance Armstrong, is one rider who is well aware of the challenge these sections of road pose. "It's always dangerous," said Lance in a small media gathering after stage two. "You have to be in the front. If you get stuck behind a crash or something like that, you can almost say that your Tour is finished."
