Do you as a parent wish that you could have one-on-one time with some of the leaders in the biomedical field in the treatment of Autism? Did you ever wish that after a presentation you could ask specific questions of the presenter and get immediate answers? Well, that is the concept behind BioChat. We will be attempting to get speakers as often as possible so that parents can ask them the questions on their minds. Because of medical ethics, the questions cannot be about a specific patient as doctors cannot "treat" other doctor's patients. The questions can be about general topics that pertain to your child such as "Do red ears indicate....", "How do you know if the metals are coming out too fast...", "What are the signs for...", etc. BioChat is LIVE. BioChat is INTERACTIVE. BioChat is SUPPORT. BioChat is parents helping parents and getting answers direct from the source. Currently we have scheduled Dr. Boyd Haley Tuesday June 7 at 9:00pm, Dr. Jaquelyn McCandless Wednesday June 8 at 9:30pm EST. Dr. Jeff Bradstreet Wednesday June 15 at 9:00pm EST. And we have many others checking their calendars as to when they are available to speak. Others that have accepted but as yet do not have a date are Dr. James Neubrander, Dr. Allen Lewis, JB Handley, Mary Romaniec and Rudi & Patti Smith-Verspoor. BioChat is a program that you download which uses the Voice Over IP Protocol like many of the Internet telephone systems. The program is Windows based at this time with support for Mac coming in the future. BioChat allows both TEXT chat as well as VOICE chat. If you do not have a microphone you can type your questions. It is recommended that you install and test the program before the day of the speakers so that you have no issues needing to be overcome when speakers are presenting. BioChat is moderated every night from 9-10pm EST but often goes until after 11. Currently, we are looking for people on the West Coast willing to moderate so that BioChat can be done at a time more convenient for those living out west.
