Could it be magic for resort plaudit? THAT 'take' may be the way to do it – as holiday bosses in Blackpool keep their fingers crossed boy band Take That's endorsement does not end up on the cutting room floor. The lads raved over the resort during their Manchester concert which was being recorded for release on DVD. The impromptu advertising started when Mark Owen asked some of the 14,000-strong audience how far they had travelled. One fan told him she was from Blackpool and what followed was the kind of publicity that the town could not buy. Among the crowd on Sunday night was Sarah Hawley, a licensing officer with Blackpool Council. Sarah, of New Lane, Thornton, said today: "The boys were on a walkway and started chatting to fans. Someone said they were from Blackpool and that was it. "They started raving about the resort, talking about the great times they had here. Then Howard Donald turned to Gary Barlow and asked him about some opening he had done here." The reference to Gary switching on the 1999 Illuminations – the last in Talbot Square – brought cheers as the singer summed it up as the highlight of his career! Sarah said: "His claim might have been a bit tongue in cheek, but it was all good fun and a brilliant plug for Blackpool." A long-time fan of the lads, Sarah, 28, will be back in Manchester next month when they perform an open-air concert at the City of Manchester Stadium. She said: "They have certainly improved with age. I saw them four times in the 90s when I was a teenager, three times in Manchester and once in Birmingham. "I also turned up outside the Rock FM studios in Preston at 6am to meet Gary and Mark who were there on separate occasions to promote their music. "I met Howard when he was a guest DJ at The Syndicate in Blackpool, but I have still to meet Jason or ex-member Robbie Williams, although I do have his signed picture." Blackpool Tourism department spokesman Mike Chadwick said: "We have heard about Take That being ambassadors for us to a capacity crowd and it would be wonderful if the footage remains in the DVD. "Switching on the Illuminations is seen as a great honour for northerners, including Gary and the Bee Gees before him." מקור: http://www.blackpooltoday.co.uk/
