משהו שג'סיקה הרפ אמרה: “There are some things on there that definitely sound a bit different from what people usually expect in Michelle’s music. There are songs that include banjos, fiddles, mandolins and a lot of country influence.” אני מקווה שאני אוהב את הדיסק החדש... כי אני אוהבת את הסגנון של מישל כמו שהוא עכשיו בלי שינויים ועניינים נוספים :\ הנה הכתבה: Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp have taken different directions prior to joining forces in their duo project the Wreckers. Extremely close friends who initially met over the Internet through the efforts of mutual fans, they had discussed doing something together for almost four years. Finally, they have that chance as part of the One Tree Hill concert tour that comes to Rocketown tonight and also features Bethany Joy Lenz and Tyler Hilton. The pair also recently appeared on the One Tree Hill television show, but the decision to finally work together made Harp temporarily delay her own country project. “On one hand, it was a little difficult for me to not go through with my plans. But having sung backup for Michelle and being as close as we are, we had been saying let’s do something together so long we just felt now was the right time,” Harp said. “We had always said that we wanted to work with each other, so I kind of had to persist and get Jessica to join me,” Branch said. “It’s a lot of fun for me because it is the first time for me working regularly with someone else. There have been absolutely no ego conflicts, no concerns about whose song gets recorded, or any of that other stuff. We’re just having a great time working with each other and we’ll just see how far things go.” Branch has enjoyed significant success as a pop/rock singer since her 2001 debut release The Spirit Room, also getting widely played singles from the subsequent release Hotel Paper and having a hit duet with Carlos Santana that was featured on his 2002 release Shaman. By contrast, pursuing a country career was what led Harp to relocate here from Kansas City, Kan., and the pair’s distinct musical sounds might seem difficult to merge at first glance. But it has proven to be a very successful union, one greatly helped by the fact Harp served as a background singer for Branch on several tours. In addition, Harp has managed to get quite a bit of country influence into the overall sound. “We really collaborated on the CD that’s coming out later this year,” Harp said. “There are some things on there that definitely sound a bit different from what people usually expect in Michelle’s music. There are songs that include banjos, fiddles, mandolins and a lot of country influence.” That can also be heard on the single “Leave The Pieces,” whose narrative about the impact of heartache, along with its evocative vocals, definitely reflects a country approach toward songwriting. Harp and Branch will be making a video for this song shortly, and they also recently cut a number “Feeling For You” hat will be included on the next Santana CD, while the Wreckers disc has a scheduled June release date. “Things are moving along faster and to a larger degree with the Wreckers than either of us anticipated,” Harp said. “We did the (One Tree Hill) show and at that time we didn’t even have a single, so we picked out “The Good Kind” and it has turned out real well.“ Their Wreckers’ performances represent the continuation of a personal and professional relationship between Harp and Branch that began long before either of them ever made any dent in the music world. Still, Harp doesn’t plan to abandon her goal of making full-fledged country music. She has her deal with Maverick, Branch’s label as well, and by the time the Wreckers’ CD debuts, will be in the studio doing her own CD. “Country music is what I really enjoy and always want to sing,” Harp said. “Doing these shows with Michelle and being on television has been fantastic, but ultimately I want to write and sing the same types of songs that inspired me to get in the business.”
