A. http://www.keanemusic.com/data/mp3/2722_tom%20answer%204.mp3 Tom: I think a song like Is It Any Wonder?, specifically about war and that sort of feeling of impotence in young people living in strange times, and I assumed (and I think we all assumed) that was something that people would get immediately, but I think probably lots of people considered it was just maybe a love song or something y'know... and actually it took us a lot of hard work and energy to hammer it home that it was a song about those issues of being a young person in a rather strange and sometimes horrifying world. But I think on this album, I think that we feel the lyrics themselves are a lot more direct, y'know... I think we feel that it would be hard not to understand what we're on about. I think a song like Perfect Symmetry, which I think is lyrically probably my favourite song on the album (in fact definitely my favourite song on the album!), there's a very definite sense and purpose and meaning to it, and I think once you sit down and look at the lyrics (or even just listen to the lyrics), you will know immediately where we're coming from. But I'm not telling you what that is yet, 'cos I want that to be a surprise!
