That was quite an accomplishment that Ed did. It is a lot more of a physical strain than folks realize. It was about 2 hours and 33 minutes to get up and down. He ran out of fuel at 17,870' and deadsticked back to the field...that is one heckuva an accomplishment right there. Winds aloft can be nasty.....if some bad winds aloft had raised their ugly head, he might have ended up in Kansas! Eddie Johnson brought 2 sophisticated instruments to read the data from the flight. They will hook to a computer to read out....I'm sure they will be posting the info. The guess was that it would be as low as -20 up there....the readout will say for sure. I know Ed was totally frozen when he got down. I felt so sorry for the pain on his face from the pain in his feet....I gave him a hot handed foot rub...I was getting oooh's and aaaah's from him then.....hey, what are friends for?
