Sarah Michelle Gellar Spotted in a restaurant at the tender age of four, Sarah Michelle Gellar grew up to become an international superstar. She shot to fame in 1997 as the legendary Buffy The Vampire Slayer on both sides of the Atlantic, and went on to star in major Hollywood films picking up a Golden Globe nomination on the way. Opening the Harrods sale Sarah was the latest in the long line of global stars who was chosen to declare the world famous Harrods summer sale, officially open. She was welcomed to the store by Harrods Chairman, Mohamed Al Fayed, and after the traditional countdown to the opening of the doors at 9.00am, was taken on a tour of the store’s best bargains. Sarah said: “I couldn’t be more excited to open the Harrods sale. It’s truly an honour, as both Harrods and the sale are legendary. I consider myself a world class shopper and what better place to put my skills to use?!” Buffy the vampire slayer In 1997 Sarah was cast in the role which would define her career to date; Buffy Summers in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Buffy was a young teenager in California, burdened with the responsibility of fighting mysterious creatures that terrorised the town of Sunnydale, most particularly vampires. Sarah impressed viewers with her high kicking and vampire slaying techniques. Meeting her Prince Sarah met her husband Freddie Prinze Jr during filming of the 1997 teen horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer, but the two did not begin dating until 2000. They were engaged in April 2001 and married a little over a year later in a private ceremony in Mexico. Charity work Sarah campaigns for breast cancer awareness, she also donates her time to the ’Make-a-Wish Foundation’ and has spent many a week in the Dominican Republic working as a volunteer for ’Habitat for Humanity.’ Sarah has also been involved with ’Project Angel Food’ for the fight against hunger, the ’Starbright Foundation,’ ’Planned Parenthood,’ and the ’Los Angeles Free Clinic.’
