Aliyah for non-Jewish parent?
Hi, I'm going to be making aliyah (in 12 days!) and both my younger brother and my mother will also be making aliyah within the next year and a half. My brother and I are worried, however, about our (non-Jewish) father, especially as he is getting older. Our parents divorced many years ago and we are his only relatives. Obviously in the eventual event that his health begins to fail we'd like to have him close by (or living with one of us) so that we can take care of him. Everything I've read notes that the non-Jewish spouse of someone making aliyah is eligible to also make aliyah. Is the non-Jewish parent of a Jewish child with Israeli citizenship also eligible even if no longer married to the child's other parent? We really would like to have both parents living close to us as they get older. Many thanks, Yael
