Aliyah in Planning Stage

We would like to know how to go about starting a file for our Aliyah. There is no representative listed for Chicago-even though we live in Columbus Ohio, but out representative said we need to open a file in Chicago. What can we do to start getting documents ready? What kind of documents are required for Aliyah? Can anyone help us? Thanks much Kol tuv Yossi

More information about us

We are Jewish-converted in May 2003. We are members of Temple Israel in Columbus Ohio. We know what the process of making Aliyah is, but we were told that we need to open a "file". How much more vague is that. Anyway does anyone know what documents are required? Is there an official web site that lists the documentation? Thanks Yosef

Documents and Chicago ../images/Emo57.gif

We do have an office in Chicago, with an Aliyah Shaliach who is very experienced and will be able to help and guide you through the entire process. We have attached the link to our site with his contact details. Regarding documentation, since you converted in May 2003, you will be required to bring the Shaliach your conversion certificates, in addition to a letter from your converting Rabbi outlining your conversion process and whether or not you have been involved in the Jewish community in the States for at least one year following your conversion and detailing in what aspects. In addition, you will need to bring the Shaliach your birth certificates and marriage certificate, passport photos and passports. If you wish to open a file with him, you will be required to fill in a number of forms which he will give you in the office.
