ALIYAH soon from UK

hi, im 38 (no children yet but trying) and im doing aliyah soon from the Uk. I am married to an israeli ,and after my parents died last year, and wanting to live in Israel for years, ive decided to take the plunge. I have applied to tHE uk office, and got an approval back: Im now in the process of renovating my house to sell, and waiting for my fathers estate to go through; However i would LOVE to speak to anyone from the UK or US who will be d oing aliyah around the end of this year or early next: I must say, although i know israel very well, *speak hebrew basic/and not good* i feel rather apprehensive, and extremely nervous: I have 2 cats, who im also taking over, so would love to speak to anyone also who have done aliyah with pets! meowwww..I must say, the only thing i will miss are my soap operas, and Tescos lmao! I like others feel very much that the growth of anti semetism in europe has got worse, so ,i think that this is the right time to leave. I look forward to speaking to anyone thanks x

Hi I will try to find someone from the UJIA to contact you. Relax - there are so many soaps here in Israel, including British ones you have the BBC prime channel - you will adjust in no time

Ambrosine hi there, Firstly congratulations on making the decision. You're in good hands with the Aliyah Dept in London and we at UJIA Israel will also do our very best to make sure that your Aliyah is as smooth as possible. It's totally normal to feel apprehensive - if you didn't they'd be something wrong - it's a big move but there are plenty of others doing it - about 400 - 450 per year from the UK and I'd certainly be happy to see if I can find someone to buddy up with - maybe someone who has been here for a few months and will share their thoughts. Having an Israeli spouse can help things along as you will have a Hebrew speaker on hand to help you deal with the bureaucracy (which is not as bad as people make out in any case) and I'm sure that she has her own friends which will throw you into a Hebrew speaking environment which together with an Ulpan should set you on the right track. BBC Prime (on cable or satellite) means that you get Eastenders a day after the UK and Premier League football is pretty well covered here too! Get back to me and tell me where you are going to be and a little more about your background and I'll try to find appropriate contacts. Regards Neil ([email protected])

aliyah !!!

Hi, yes i know israel has top gear, but not neighbours loool or coronation street: whyyyyy? lama? Okay, well , im going over on the 19th june, to look for a property/area to go to: my husbands family are from ra anana, and i am looking around hod hasharon, or areas, to find a small house: i have 2 cats that have to have a garden. I go to israel often so its not like i dont know anything about Israel, but, just talking to another person, in similair circumstances, and how they feel, would benefit greatly thanks neil

Aliyah

Ok - I have a contact for you but won't post it here - please drop me an email to my work email and I'll send you her details back. [email protected] You should know that we have an office that deals with the Tel Aviv area - Aliyah and bureaucracy etc, also with an Employment counsellor to help with the job search. The Tel Aviv office runs a small group program called "contact" which deals with the culture shock of Aliyah and provides a friendly supportive atmosphere. I'll be happy to send you the contact details. Neil
