Chiune Sugihara: Diplomat who saved Jews

This Japanese diplomat in Lithuania save close to 2400 Jews by issuing them, against the instructions of his superiors in Tokyo, transit visas to Japan. He did so in a short period of time, even when his train was leaving, issued visas through the open window of his carriage. Most of the Jews traveled via the USSR eastwards, then taking about to Japan.Just before Pearl Harbor they where deported to Shanghai, where the Japanese allocated for the Jews a special area, also know as the Shanghai Ghetto. Here is a scan of such a survivor, business man from Poland who received his visa on 30th July 1940.Scans are of his new passport issued in Tokyo, extended in Shanghai and in London, after the exchange done with Japanese and Western civilians in 1942, via Mozambique.2nd scan is of a Jewish woman who was immigrating from Shanghai to the State of Israel in 1949.
