Tadmor and others
Just an FYI: Tadmor is considered the best school in Israel. I attended it (1994-1995) and the level there is very low, in my opinion. It is not an academic institution; it is a more of what you would call a vocational school here in the USA, there are no Culinary Schools in Israel that are even remotely close to what you see in the USA. I am not saying this to discourage you, just to give you realistic expectations. There are different courses in Tadmor (it is a hotel administration school) and the cooking course is the only one that doesn't even require a high school diploma to be accepted to. 10th grade was the minimum requirement in 1995. It was fun and I did learn some stuff, but don't expect academic level. It would be a good crash course on the diversity of the Israeli (mainly the Jewish) society though. Another advantage is that it is run by Misrad HaAvoda (the Labor Ministry???) and if you are eligible you will get paid (unemployment fee) for attending. It is very possible that as an Ole you will be eligible. There are dorms a few blocks away from the school and you attend school 5 days a week from 8-5 during theory classes and Morning/evening shifts through practical training.
