Rooms count

includes everything, including living room, dining room. A flat with 2 bedrooms, living room and dining room would be considered a 4-room flat in Israel. Half a room could be a very small room. If it can serve as a bedroom at all, it would be as a very crowded an uncomfortable one. It could also mean an open room, that wouldn’t provide enough privacy as a bedroom. In this case Israelis might use it as a dining room, library etc.

Does anyone know about flats...?

I am an Israeli and have been living in the UK for the past 17 years. I am planning to come back to live in Israel and wonders if anyone knows about my rights as a Returning Citizen (Toshav Hozer). Also I am looking for a flat in Israel and I have a question which might seems strange... In England, a 2 bed flat means a kitchen, living room, possibly a dinning room and 2 BED ROOMS. i.e. the 2-bed only related to the bedrooms. Is this the same in Israel? I forgot...Does a 2 room flat in Israel have 2 bedrooms? Also what is 1.5 room flat? Many thanks Amira

Some links about returning citizen

Look at the following links (Hebrew content)with information about "Toshav Chozer" (and By the way - I think 2 bedrooms include the living room, so it isn't really 2 bedrooms, if I am not mistaken) see also AACI's site at http://www.aaci.org.il/: http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/1,7340,L-1016408,FF.html http://www.bambili.com/bambili_news/katava_main.asp?news_id=2577&sivug_id=1 http://www.moia.gov.il/hozrim/hozrim1.htm http://www.mof.gov.il/customs/ques.htm http://www.family-online.co.il/tofeset/tfasim/225thozer.pdf http://labour.haifa.ac.il:8070/shil2/jsp/general/Article.jsp?aid=282 http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/1,7340,L-1837739,00.html

flats

Hi - the number of rooms in Israeli real estate ads mean a salon (living room) + a number of bedrooms. A 2 room flat means a salon + 1 bedroom, 3 room would be 2 bedroom etc. 1.5 would probably mean a large studio flat. In addition it is assumed that there is a kitchen and bathroom. There is a good summing up on the subject at: http://www.ujia.org.il/asp/aliyah_klita_sections.asp?id=44&back=Housing Toshavim Hozrim should be in contact with the Israeli Consulate to clarify status.
