And now for the story of the day
This afternoon we were scheduled to land in Nassau Bahamas at 1505. we did, but as we were taxing (and I should say that you have to go there to appreciate other airports in the world, for example: most of the taxiway don’t have any signs, and some of the runways have the same problem) the controller told us that there was a Challenger that spilled 20 gallons of fuel on one of the taxiway. That taxiway was a major taxiway in this small airport. That obviously effected us and some 18 other airplanes including 2 767, one of BA and one of Air Canada. So as we were seating on the taxiway, the BA arrived to the gate area, but the AC 767 was still in the gate, so what happened was the AC cannot leave the gate because he cannot Taxi, because of the closed runway, and he couldn’t push back because there are no room to push. BA 767 captain didn’t like that at all and was trying to do everything he could to get in, till he finally said: WE ARE A 767, WE HAVE BEEN SEATING HERE FOR 35 MIN BURNING 2 TONES OF FUEL, I HAVE BEEN FFLYING FOR MANY YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN THING LIKE THIS. So there you go, in the Bahamas on Monday afternoon a lot of money was going wasted. First picture you can see the fire department trying to clean the area, and you can see the challenger that spilled the fuel on the left side.
