hi, ill be landing in bangkok in mid august for 2 nighs, and im lookin for a nice place to stay. id rather it to be close to khaosan road, but i dont mind if its in prathunam, i already had a look at baiyoke sky hotel. any other recommendations? thanks!

Close to Khao San Road you've got Viengtai Hotel a parallel street to KSR), quite pleasant and with very low rates. In pratunam, a good hotel with higher standards is Amari Watergate Hotel.

any other nice places around the viengtai hotel? i liked the baiyoke skyhotel but i dont know any thing around it. are there any nice places close to it?

Not much

Some shopping centers are not too far from it - Pratunam Market, mostly for cloths and Pantip Plaza for Electronics.

refers to surroundings of Bayoke. As for viengtai, there are plenty of nice places nearby, including Khaosan road, royal palace, china town not too far away...
