I wish they had the luf here ...
But at least they have good race courses! I had a great race on Monday in France, with lots of uphills and lots of single tracks downhill. It was one of the best courses I've ever been on just because there were a lot of challenges, with a narrow, long uphill in something like a canyon (and two other long wide uphills) and then lots of single tracks over rocks and roots, not too challenging and no dangerous downhills, but just fast and fun. But I had one problem..... I warmed up really good on my trainer like my new coach, Stephane said, for about a half hour, but when I finished it was already 15 minutes before the start. So, I thought, perhaps the French are like the Germans and they start a little late (yes, Germans are not so daikanim as they say....). And I couldn't hear the announcer calling the women to the start. So, I thought I had enough time for the bathroom.... BUT, when I got close to the start line, I saw that, ten minutes before the start, everyone was already lined up!!! So my peepee would have to wait. So I rushed in, just getting into the last line. So, during all of these long uphills I was thinking, I really wish I could just stop here and go to the bathroom. And I almost seriously considered it.... Then I remembered!! Yitzik Hoffman's suggestion - just go in your pants!! (He said, for those who don't remember when I wrote about this last year, that this is what the professionals do.) SOOOO, since I would like to consider myself a professional now, I tried to go in my pants. But this is much more difficult than you think. Apparently, despite my age, it was not so long ago that my mother was saying, no, no , don't go in your pants dearie, go to the bathroom! And , in the middle of this long long uphill, I tried to remember the last time that I went in my pants. And I couldn't remember it. There is something just preventing me from "letting go" without actually pulling down my pants. (Sorry if this is a little graphic for some of you men and young people). So I tried and tried but I couldn't do it! I even imagined going into the bathroom and I imagined a big waterfall and the sound of water, but nothing helped. So you can guess where I went immediately when I finished!! By the way, I just have to say that my Specialized bike was just amazing on the course. It was so important to have a light bike and I just pushed up those hills so fast because I had the right tool to do so! Thanks to all the Matzman guys! And of course thanks to the Eigud and all the support, especially Yoni. It's great to have the forum when I am so far away from home but can feel so close... Hope the riding in Israel is great!! Say hello to the luf and the pereg and the sahlavim from me. They are more beautiful than any flowers in Europe Laurie
