מצאתי את הכתבה הזו הבוקר וחשבתי שהיא די נחמדה אם אתם רוצים לקרוא... WEST VALLEY CITY -- Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn opened the band's show Monday at the E Center alone onstage, a fitting start for a band that begins with a base in hip-hop and builds a sound from there with layers of traditional rock. As Hahn scratched out a hook on his turntables bathed in blue lights, the rest of the band exploded onstage to the opening of "Don't Stay." Vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda bounded across the stage throughout, something they would continue the entire show. The band continued with "Somewhere I Belong," the first single from its new album, "Meteora," which debuted at No. 1 two weeks ago. "Somewhere I Belong" is the ideal Linkin Park mix of anthemic rock song, angst-ridden lyrics and competing vocal lines by the rap-heavy Shinoda and the classic screamer Bennington. Together, the duo's voices act as point-counterpoint, giving Linkin Park a dynamic that few of the band's rap-metal peers can match. At times, Linkin Park's deluge of pummeling drums and monstrous riffs can get monotonous, but Hahn's turntables and Bennington's nonscreaming singing voice are capable of pulling the music back from the brink of repetition. "Runaway," from the band's multiplatinum debut "Hybrid Theory," benefited from Bennington's best vocals of the evening as he climbed toward the audience at the edge of the stage. The band paced the show with a program of intensity followed by release. A quick-paced song like "Faint" was followed by a more-plodding, if not mellower, song like "From the Inside." The overall effect was jarring and most definitely heavy. That might be the secret to Linkin Park's success, making music that's jarring and heavy, but lacing it with enough pop hooks that a wide teen audience still finds it appealing, as the band demonstrated on hits like "One Step Closer," "In the End" and "Crawling." That was the case with the kids at the E Center on Monday. They went home spent, sweaty and sated. Much like the headlining band, the Projekt Revolution Tour as an entity was a mixed bag of hard rock and hip-hop. While opener Mudvayne offered a bruisingly boring din of metal riff, MC SuperNatural's midfloor set got the crowd amped for Linkin Park. Working with just a DJ, the dreadlocked MC displayed his improvisational and cheerleading skills in an all-too-short appearance
