Emperor Joshua Norton Born: Febuary 14th, 1819 (London, England) [Valentine's Day] Died: January 8th, 1880 (San Fransisco, California) On September 17th of 1859, Joshua Norton I declared himself Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. It was said that he went mad, but if you were actually on your way there, perhaps he had simply reached his destination. Emperor Norton is credited with ordering the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, thus allowing all the citizens of San Francisco and the neighboring areas to 'walk on the sunny side of the street'. Emperor Norton was never recorded to have taken a queen, but it has been suggested that he searched for the 'right lady' until he the day he died. It has been suggested that his queen should have been Frida Kahlo, which would have united Mexico and the U.S. through blood. It should come as no surprise, then, that the U.S. has made such a policy of restricting immigrants from Mexico - the government has no obligation to protect Mexico, but it must protect the citizens living in the US. On January 8th, 1880, more than 10,000 people attended Emperor Norton's funeral, commemorating the physical passage of the first and only Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. On August 18th of 1969, Edward James Norton Jr., was born. Note that this is 01 month, 01 day, and 110 years after the Emperor's proclamation. In a dream, Emperor Norton once said to me: 'Am I a King, dreaming that I am an actor?' said the Bishop to the Actress. 'Or am I an actor, dreaming of a cat?' Said the cat, 'Am I a cat, dreaming I am a man, dreaming of a woman, or am I a man dreaming of a cat?' Said the actor, 'Perhaps I am merely mad.' What do you think, Mr. Norton?
