Immediately following this episode, they will play "Authorized Personnel Only, Part II" as part of a two hour premiere event. Both episodes were written by J.J. Abrams and Jeff Melvoin. Episode 4.01 & 4.02: Authorized Personnel Only, Parts I and II Airdate: January 2005 07/10 - Episode 4.01 will be written by: J.J. Abrams. Episodes 4.01 & 4.02 will likely air together as a 2 hour premiere. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that J.J. will be writing the second hour as well (Episode 2). According to my info: 4.01 & 4.02 will both be directed by Ken Olin. Since the two eps combine into, basically, a 2 hour movie... it made more sense to have the same director for the sake of tone and continuity.
