Chester: "It ws fun becsause I didn't expect to win against the likes of Metallica and System. I enjoyed it." What's the plan for the rest of the evening? Chester "We've got a lot of friends here., other bands anbd such so Im' sure we'll have a good time." Any message for the kerrnag! readers? Mike: "Awww man, thank you guys. Winnebegao Deal's Ben Perrier ws loudly discusssing his own brush with Rock Royalty. It transpired that the guitarist had given Linkin Park the finger as the band went up to collect their "Best International Act" award, only to be confronted by an indignant Chester Bennington afterwards, wanting to know why. "Well", recalled the grinning six-stringer, " (Ben) " I told him it ws becasuse I'd been waiting so F**king long for hte opportunity to do so. Hundred Reasons guitarist Larry Hibbitt stood in for tthe now long-gone Dan Carter ont he decks and promptly send Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and Joe Hahn from Linkin Park, scuttling back to the safety of their upstairs room by inadvertanatly airing one of ther songs,.... Page 40: Title Kerrang Weekend Friday summary LP gets 3 k's which = Average. ..And then com ethe big guns. It would be easy to dismiss LINKIN PARK. Whiel they are clearly very professional and seem to have all thier stage moves worked out inadvance, Chester Bennington and so still sound immense. It would be a surprise if tonight sounded any different from any other night of the tour - this is not a band likely to extend a song or risk a jam - but it's the sound of a band at the top of the world, enjoying thier sucess to teh hilt. Regrettably, they insist on telling the crowd that this is the greatest night of thir life, ramming how much of a privaledge this is down our throats. It woudl be easier to beleive had they not said it every other night they've ever played
