Interested in living in Israel.

Hello, I was interested in living and studying in Israel for a few years. I am 27 years old and would at least like to try my hand at living in Israel. I don't want to regret having not spent some substantial time in Israel. I've already done Birthright, I really like Israel, and would like to live there, not just visit as a tourist. Maybe a kibbutz ulpan would be a good place to start? Or are there any opportunities for post graduate work in Israel. If anyone knows of any good links for these, I would appreciate the information. Thanks, Nathan

many Israel programs

Hi Nathan, There are a many programs available that would allow you to experience living in Israel. A good place to look for a program that suits your needs is the Israel Program Center. I volunteered in a medical center in Tel Aviv from Nov 2004 to Jan 2005, and it was a great experience!! There are also lots of opportunities for studying, or professional internships. However, an ulpan is a good way to learn Hebrew and experience Israel. If you are considering Aliyah, you should keep in mind that you will take a 5 month Ulpan when you arrive. As well, all new olim under 30 who already have a BA are entitled to 2 years free tuition towards an MA in the same field. Tuition grants are not available towards a PhD because it is much easier to get research grants and stipends. To verify that you can check out the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption - Student Authority website. Hope that was helpful. ~ Jennie
