from what i know

i am getting drafted to be a paramedic in a week so i dont know toooo much but over here you first finsih the EMT-P course which takes about an year and 2 months... something like that. after that you are one year in the field on the army amublances or wherever you are needed (no special places) then after a year you have your "second pick" and you can choose to stay where you are, go to special units (like you said, 669 and the lot), go to officer training or go to the instructor course to become a teacher for the next course.... depends on what the army needs so i can't really help you with telling you whats available... good luck

Magen David Adom Volunteer Program

Hi, I'm interesting in doing the volunteer program for magen david adom. I lived in Israel for 6 years and have family there. So housing is not a problem and I know the language. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this program and what their thoughts where? I'm a freshman in college and pre-med; want to be a general or cardiac surgeon. I wanted to volunteer at an ambulance service in the US, but thought it would be so much more fun in Israel (Where I haven't been for about 5 years). Anyway so any thoughts, comments, and impressions on this program would be great. Thanks, Alex

Join the forum...

You can join the MDA volenteer forum if you have any more questions for us... we will be happy to answer. I have been volenteering for the last 3 years and in two weeks getting enlisted in the army as a paramedic so it certainly opens a few doors for you. Join the forum, it's in Hebrew but everyone also speaks english: http://www.tapuz.co.il/forums/main/forumpage.asp?forum=311
