Making Aliyah next year

Hello to everyone, Two years ago I decided that I wanted to make Aliyah to Israel. I hadn't even been to Israel yet, but I knew that I wanted to move there. Since that day, I have been to Israel as a tourist, and although a lot of things have changed since then, I know in my heart that this is what I want to do. I am setting up an appointment with the Shaliach here in Columbus Ohio to start my file. Anyone that can give me some feedback on the processes that are involved would be greatly appreciated. In time I can post more of my thoughts and feelings about my decision, but for now I will just introduce myself here. I am 48 years old, and converted to Judaism 2 years ago. I am Reform, and I know that there is a lot of controversy about not being Orthodox or even Conservative and that I won't be accepted by the Government of Israel-or at least it will be more difficult for me since I'm Reform. I don't care, It's just one more hurdle that I will have to deal with, but I am prepared to do whatever I need to do to make my dream of next year in Israel (at least) come true. Thank you Kol tuv Yossi

moving to Israel

Yossi, Good luck with your aliyah! Sounds like you're covering all the right steps, but I'd like to suggest one more thing, something I wish had been available before I moved to Israel: blogs. Read a few blogs by Americans (and others) who have made aliyah - it will give you a more down-to-earth feeling for all the emotional ups and downs involved in this radical change in your life. Israelity ( http://www.israelity.com ) is a good place to start. There are links there to other blogs, as well. Best wishes & keep on asking all the questions you can think of! AmyS
