Hi Medications are definitely not among my areas of expertise. So I cannot help you with that. I do know that many public arguments are being conducted about entering more medications into the health basket. You need to carefully examine each and every "Kupa" – they excel in giving vague information although they have improved lately. The terms of communication and insurance that you receive from your "Kupa" might change upon their will. Get someone who knows Hebrew and Knows a little bit more on health and medications and check every bit of information very carefully. I wish you good health

Medication Coverage

Shalom Y'All, My wife and I are planning Aliyah Dec 05. She has a mild case of R&R MS (Relapsing and Remitting Multiple Sclerosis) thank G-d this is not the progressive sort that everyone thinks of when they hear the term MS. She has been on Copaxone by Teva Pharm. (Israel Mfg.) for a couple of years and managed very well with no serious relapses. This is a very expensive Medication ($1,300 monthly) which is currently covered by our health insurance. Does anyone know if Copaxone is covered on any of the health plans? What email, web site, or phone number can I use to verify coverage on the health plans? Thanks Very Much Yitzi Kothe NBN Dec 05

I have entered the ministry of health web site. And have found the medication named Copaxone. It is included in the Health Basket. Please note that if your wife is a Katin Hozer or Ezrah Oleah - you have to find out weather you are covered immediately upon arrival or if you have to wait in order to be covered. I have also read on that site that the medication will be given only if the illness is "relapsing remitting" - I do not know what that means – I have enclosed a link but it is in Hebrew – I suggest that you'll find someone to help you with that and also to help you understand fully the possibilities in making Health insurance in Israel with one of the "Kupot "Holim". This is very important to you because of your wife's condition. Refuah Shlemah Odelia
