Food prices in Israel

Prices in Shekels: ===================== Regular bread: 3.5 Sliced bread: 5 1 liter milk: 4 1 liter car's fuel: 4.26 Basic prices as of bread, milk and fuel are monitored by the government. Fruits and veggies have very fluid prices depends on seasons, offer and demand policy, morning-evening sails etc. Fruits and veggies at their season are very cheap compared with Europe and US. Fruits prices can varied from 1 shekel per 1 Kilo(gram) for staff which stay on the market stand before it being closed late in the evening and 3-5 shekels for 1 kilo(gram) in the morning. Most Veggies prices are very very cheap all year (parsley, coriander, celery, potatoes, onions, carrot, beetroot) except special veggies as leek which can be charged for 8 sh. per 1 kilo. Fruits and veggies are much cheaper in open city markets than in malls by 10% to 50%. It's worth the try to travel through the market stands and choose your best fruits and veggies. The problem might be that the market merchants don't love one who by less than 1 kilo(gram) of each product.

Like Chen pointed out, sometimes Where you buy can have a huge impact on how much your shopping total would cost you, there are various chains and in certain areas where there's more competition the prices tend to drop. (For example "Sgula" in Petach Tikva).
