Some Cool Books

I've recently encountered several very good books, which I'm not sure are available in Hebrew (I have a feeling they are not). So if anyone is planning their Amazon shopping, here they are: Paganism - an Introduction to Earth-Centered Religions/Joyce and River Higginbotham. This is an excellent book, unlike any other beginners book. It's intelligent and interesting. The Hebrew Goddess/ Raphael Patai. I think this is a must especially for Israeli Pagans. The Philosophy of Wicca/ Amber Laine Fisher. Good philosophy book, no fluff. The Urban Primitive/ Raven Kaldera and Tannin Schwartzstein: a fun, humorous and useful book for Pagans living in cities - ideal for Tel Aviv Pagans!!! Enjoy, Hadar

זה בעייתי...

אנחנו גרים בישראל, וספרים כאלו דורשים יבוא מיוחד מאתרים סטייל אמאזון.קום... אישית, אני לא סובל לעבוד עם משלוחים מחו"ל. אני רוצה להצטרף להמלצה על Paganism - an Introduction to Earth, ספר נהדר וחובה בכל ספרייה שיכולה להשיג אותו. גם יחסית זול אם מישהו מודאג (משהו כמו תשע דולר לפני שנה)...

Yeah, the book situation sucks.

That's why I've made a point of buying all the books I can think of while I'm here. Why is no one translating good books to Hebrew, or at least import the Hebrew versions? My impression here is that there would be an audience for that. And the Pagan books I found in Tel Aviv on my visit were pretty lousy.

אני מבין את הרעיון הכללי של לצבור כמות מזעזעת של ספרים, עד כדי כך שתוכלי לבנות מהם בית. מה שאני לא מבין בתוכנית העל שלך היא כיצד את מתכננת להעביר את הספרים בחזרה לישראל בעלויות שפויות? החלק של הקנייה הוא נחמד וטוב, אבל המשלוח לארץ נראה מאוד מפוקפק.

well, my friend,

I'm not doing only Paganism stuff here; mostly I'm writing my PhD and have hundreds of prefessional books, as well as dozens of Chinese medicine book. Plus, we'll be living here for two years more, so in any case we'll be shipping all our stuff back by sea with a "mechola". So it's not mefukpak at all.

I have no clue. We still have at least two years left in the U.S. So my dubious stuff will remain in my dubious library, for now.
