Taxes and Nurses

My wife and I are going to make Aliyah. We will both be 28 at the time. She is a katina chozeret and has a M.Sc. in Genetic Counseling. Does anyone know if she would be elgible for Student Authority assistance to become a R.N. there? Is anyone familliar with the Israeli tax law? I have seen that Israel will tax any capital gains/distributions for investments made after Aliyah and while you are a resident in Israel. I have also seen that an exemption is made for 10 years for those investements made before Aliyah. Is anyone familiar with the impact of these laws on the following situations: 1) Contributions made to an IRA, especially Roth IRA's either before Aliyah or after Aliyah 2) Automatic investment plans into a multual fund through something like Schwab or Fidelity after Aliyah but using money held in the US before Aliyah 3) Contributions to a "Universal" life insurance policy Thanks!

Student Authority

I don't know what the status is for returnees, but I know as a new oleh/olah, if you make aliyah before the age of 30 the SA will pay for 2 (and possibly 3) years of continued education- continued, as in you can't switch careers. To be an R.N., you don't necessarily have to learn in Israel- just be able to pass their licensing exam in Hebrew. (And double check this info, 'cause I'm just a prospective olah with health-care industries aspirations- not a shaliach...)

Nurse

My wife would like to learn in Israel. As I understand in the Student Authority does not work for a second bachelors or a second masters. We dont know what a RN would be considered to be.
