Tzofim Garin Tzabar is a group of young Jews, some children of Israelis, with a strong connection to and interested in returning to Israel to serve in the army. The Garin returns to Israel as a group, lives together on a kibbutz and individually serves in the army. For those who want to join the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), but are afraid to do it alone, Tzofim Garin Tzabar offers a support network for Hebrew speaking American young adults making that important choice. The process includes 5 seminars throughout the year, where the participants deal with their own personal dilemmas and the decision of joining the army. They learn about their duties in the army and their rights as citizens of Israel and create important support relationships with peers who will share this experience. The seminars are in Hebrew to give the members of the Garin a chance to practice, therefore basic Hebrew is necessary.
