Tough dilema, needs assistance!

Hello, My name is Ronen and I'm in Ottawa, Canada together with my girlfriend, me with a study permit, which is valid for a year, and her with a traveller visa for 6 months. Our intentions are to stay in Canada and immigrate here, but that is quite a tough task. Right now we both are looking for jobs and a way to issue a work permit but it's not easy, because of the documantation required and the fact that we have to go all the way to Buffalo to issue the work permit, and this may be required a few times, no regarding the fact that in the mean while we're spanding our money here and we have to rent an apartment soon, so the initial money stash is running low. I was thinking of just spend the money for trying to issue the Landent Migrant (which I think we're definitely qualified for) and just let the whole idea of "try to find an employer's job offer" go... But am I and my girlfriend can work and live here inside Canada while the application is being processed? Also is it better to try issue the Landent Migrant by our own or should we go to an immigration lawyer here? I'll be happy to get any assistance and any advice from any one that knows and done this kind of stuff. Also any one that is an immigration lawyer or knows one here in Ottawa, Canada (prefered jewish israeli one) I'll be happy to get his phone number and have a consult meeting. Question

We are two years together and can definitely proove that she's my Common-Law Partner. I have only a study permit which does not allow me to work outside of college territory. How can I get the work permit? Montreal is too far for me and I'm not mobile... If either you or him knows some one here in Ottawa? Thanks, Ronen.

are you sure?

Are you sure about that? You're speaking out of your own experience or are you a lawyer? Because me my self don't have a work permit and actually I'm looking for a way to issue an open work permit... can I issue one as well? without an employer's job offer. I have pictures from vacations abroad and from family events and many more... we live together and currently using the same bank account. Can I just go with the documents and immediately get the open work permit? Because if yes than I'm going tomorrow... I mean it's kinda' becoming urgent... Ronen.

אולי תאמין למשרד ההגירה (תחת Eligibility to apply from inside Canada). אם יש לך וויזת לימודים, אתה לא יכול לעבוד (למעט באוניברסיטה, וגם זה רק במתכונת מצומצמת), אבל בת זוגתך רשאית לעבוד במה שתרצה (כמעט, אלא אם זה בתור אחות או משהו בסגנון). חשבון בנק משותף נראה לי שיכול מאוד לעזור. כמו שאמרתי, האישור הינו מיידי. אתם נוסעים למעבר גבול כלשהוא (לא צריך עד בפאלו), מראים את האישורים ומקבלים את וויזת העבודה במקום.

Well, if that's the case this friday I'm at the border. I have my study visa on me and the letter of acceptence so I'll get some of my old pictures and I'll go there... Eligibility to apply from inside Canada You can only apply from inside Canada if you meet the following requirements: You have a valid study or work permit, or your spouse or parents have a study or work permit. You have a work permit for one job but want to apply for a work permit for a different job. You have a temporary resident permit that is valid for six months or more. You are in Canada because you have already applied for permanent residence from inside Canada. You will have to pass certain stages in the main application process before you can be eligible for a work permit. You will not be able to get a work permit

other then what you got as a student Your girlfriend or common law will be able to get an open work permit if you will be able to prove that you are living as common law partners YOU are not eligible to any other work permit then the one that they gave you unless you meet the conditions specified by CIC

Can you please give me your lawyer's phone number? I may not be able to meet with him but maybe he could help me through the phone just for what documants to bring them and what else than pictures... Also did you mean to go to the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo or just the boarder?
