if you are in good shape

25 - 3 months 30 - you enter a pool and only if the army has a special need they can draft you, but usually it means that you won't serve.

As i have told you

you need to take into consideration many factors, especially former visits to Israel. I enclose a link to the Idf web site - there is a table there that shows the time you will have to serve but do not specify everything, and former visits are important. before you make Aliyah - make sure that you see a Shaliach that can check exactly the time you will need to serve. i hope you can find someone who reads hebrew to help you with the information.

visit to israel - alyiah - army

Hello i am 23 and i live in Greece . From a young age i was told about israel , and now i want to meet its people and places . I've been before when i was 10 but i need to experience it as being older . I am thinking of doing an ulpan to learn hebrew and maybe experience jewish life . Here , i feel a little like a stranger and like being greek is a little opposite to being jewish . So i am not ruling out aliyah . If i ever do aliyah , do i have to spend 3 years in the army ? If i have already served here (its one year or something) , does it count ? thanx a lot

Hi, I too want to experience Israel. I am planning on doing an ulpan..are you Jewish? I'm not and I think that will be a stumbling block to aliyah. but if you get any information, I would appreciate it you could share it. thank you and good luck!

Not 3 years

Hi I couldn't understand from your post if you are eligible by the law of return - do you have one parent who is Jewish or a grandfather or grandmother who is Jewish? Well, the length of your army service depends on three factors: your age at your arrival, your medical profile and your marital status when you get enlisted. if you served in a foreign army they reduce the time you have to serve. you do not have a permanent Aliyah Shaliach in Greece but you can call or contact our representative in Athens: Athens The Jewish Agency for Israel P. O. Box 30374 Athens 10033 Greece Tel: (01) 322-6608 Fax: (01) 323-6259 Email: [email protected]
