Lindsay is misinformed
Lindsey is wrong. The reason her college age friends do not have a problem when they visit is because they probably left the country before the age of 16, and have a letter saying that they are allowed to visit the country for max 4 months out of a year without being drafted, or before an even earlier age, which exempts them completely if they don't return by 18. If they make aliyah, or overstay their alloted permissible time, it is an entirely different story, and their little butts will get drafted before they can blink =) If you left the country before 16 and did not get this permission, then you are given a tourist visa (i think), and may not overstay that visa without being drafted. If you do not have this permission and are of a certain age, you will be drafted for a period of time depending on your age, health, rating, etc. I think that your forms that you filled out allow you to visit israel for four months out of the year. For example, if you go for all of january of 2005, you are allowed however many more visits you want so long as the total amount of days in israel for 2005 does not exceed 3 months. Adjust this rule accordingly to the amount of time your Israeli consulate tells you And by the way, the israeli consul can always help you out with any questions regarding toshavei chozer. -J
